These great Cuban records from the 1930s to the 1950s can be said to have literally changed the face of African Music. Starting from 1932, the HMV record company targeted records of Cuban music directly to West Africa - the famous GV series. It was an overwhelming success, with enormous sales and a further influence way above the sales, as the sound of Cuban music was everywhere over the next 25 years. The styles and rhythms were picked up by local musicians throughout Africa who incorporated them into their native music forms and whose influences are still heard today. The 20 page booklet tells the full story, with details and rare photos and graphics from the period.
