Most of what we hear of Indian music is either in the classical instrumental tradition of the likes of Ravi Shankar or the popular film music of "Bollywood." However, Indian traditional musical cultures are rich and diverse and go back thousands of years. It is rare to come across the sophisticated and predominantly vocal music of the rural interior where ancient traditions still impact the everyday lives of millions of people. Here the focus is on what many believe to be India's primary melody instrument, the human voice. Includes a 20 page booklet with extensive notes and photos.
